We are a team of clean energy and maritime specialists

Leveraging our specialist knowledge, unique insights and a host of renewable energy assets across the world, we provide shipping lines, ports and terminals, and cargo owners with access to clean and cost-effective energy, helping them transform their business operations for the better.

Responsible for 3.3% of global carbon dioxide (CO2), 15% of nitrous oxides (NOx) and 13% of sulphur oxides (SOx) emissions, the marine industry must undergo a mass transformation. By 2040, the maritime industry will consume up to 4 PWh of clean energy annually – equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of the USA.

NatPower Marine is leading the maritime energy revolution – it is our ambition to invest over £3 billion of capital globally by 2030, helping 120 ports and 50 shipping lines to transition their operations.

We are dedicated to building a global network of intelligent and clean energy infrastructure for cold ironing and electric propulsion, NatPower Marine is driving the industry’s shift toward sustainability.

WHAT WE OFFER

Powering shipping on clean energy

The maritime industry has a significant emissions profile, emitting equivalent CO2 to major economies like Germany. In cities that host ports, between 30-35% of SOx, NOx and PMx emissions are generated by ships.

Decarbonising the maritime industry requires a mass transformation, requiring every ship, port and cargo owner to plot a course to a cleaner future.

We deliver and operate the charging infrastructure to provide intelligent electric fuel to vessels, in the most relevant locations. As a global partner, we use our unique data-led insights to understand the needs of our customers and provide them with the right infrastructure, in the right place, at the right time.

Stefano D.M. Sommadossi

Chief Executive Office

A serial entrepreneur with 25+ years of experience in sustainability investments and cutting-edge digital services in four continents. Currently leading NatPower UK, NatPower Marine, and Sea.Energy. Founded and led NextEnergy Capital (sustainable energy fund manager, currently $3.0bn+ AUM), WiseEnergy ($5.6bn in clean energy assets operated), Nexcentrica (sustainability business incubator and investment company), four energy transition companies in clean energy generation and electric vehicles charging services. Founder and trustee of Evogea, a foundation incubating and financing high-impact sustainable projects to turn communities in leaders in sustainability and green economy. Former advisor to governments, fund managers, lenders and large listed corporations in sustainable investments, energy, marine, automotive, telecoms and media. Former contract professor at Bocconi University, and Senior Partner at The European House Ambrosetti.

Marco Galimberti

CEO, NatPower Marine Italia

Marco is a highly accomplished CEO and Entrepreneur with over 20+ years of extensive experience in the direct management and strategic leadership of companies spanning various industries. Throughout his career, Marco has successfully overseen the operations of multiple organizations in Italy and abroad, dedicating his efforts to driving international growth and expansion. His expertise lies in identifying and leveraging growth opportunities while building, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams. Marco has held prominent leadership positions, including roles as CEO and Country Manager, where he has consistently delivered transformative results and fostered sustainable success.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Marco has accumulated substantial experience through various institutional roles and representative positions within state-owned companies. Marco joins NatPower with his strong background in the industrial sector and natural aptitude deliver results to ensure concrete impact and solution for the decarbonization of the port ecosystems.

Asif Akram

Chief Information Officer

20+ years of experience in managing sustainable digital transformation for multiple sectors. Asif has led strategic technical research at Oxford University, University of Cambridge, and Imperial College with 50+ publications. Asif has also managed various strategic initiatives in fintech, non-profit, and social enterprises across Europe, Africa, and Asia. He was an advisor to global brands and FTSE companies to achieve business objectives.

Martin Olverson

Development Director

I joined NatPower Marine to be at the heart of the energy transition for the maritime industry, in a role that allows me to drive real, tangible change in a sector that urgently needs action. NatPower operates with incredible agility, and being part of a multicultural team of experts - combined with a strong maritime community spirit – creates an exciting and dynamic culture across the business.

NatPower Marine is building the world’s largest network of shore power, an achievement never accomplished before, and I’m proud to be part of this groundbreaking initiative that will make a real difference.

Outside of work, I value spending quality time with my family, love to travel, and have a passion for cycling, windsurfing, and skiing. I hold an MSc in Global Marketing from the University of Liverpool.

Philip Lawson

Head of Marine Solutions

I joined NatPower Marine as Head of Marine Solutions, driven by my passion for the maritime industry and my natural ability to engage with customers to find the right solutions. NatPower Marine's vision aligns perfectly with my desire to make a meaningful impact and support the industry's energy transition.

With over 10 years of experience in marine solutions – particularly in shore power – I’ve been able to contribute valuable insights and help my colleagues better understand the challenges facing the marine sector. One of the key reasons I joined NatPower Marine was its unique business model, which sets it apart from traditional service offerings in the industry.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about delicious local produce, wildlife photography, and exploring the Scottish mountains. I also volunteer as a mentor for the government's "Help to Grow" program, supporting small to medium businesses, and I’m a member of the Associated Business Mentors.

Nikola Gargov

Special Project Director

15+ years’ experience in energy transition, strategic and technical advisory. Former T&D Practice Director (Europe and India) at Aecom and Head of Electricity Transmission Services (UK) for AtkinsRealis. Engineering and project manager at National Grid UK. Nikola advised energy regulators, renewable energy developers and FTSE network operators. Chartered electrical engineer with PhD in renewable energy.

Marcello Stanislao

Business Development Director, NatPower Marine Italia

Marcello has 12+ years experience in business development and project and operation management across the energy sector, from oil and gas to low carbon molecules and renewables.

He gained extensive corporate experience at Snam, leading projects for the maritime industry decarbonization, and at ExxonMobil, leading projects to optimize operations, streamline supply chains and drive business growth. He founded Venet, a consulting company to advise investors exploring climate-focused business opportunities. His educational achievements include a master’s in mechanical engineering and an Executive MBA at the ESCP of Paris.

Renowned for his ability to define strategies, lead cross functional teams, and establish partnerships, he consistently drives business growth and delivers results. He comes to NatPower to develop shore power supply within the port ecosystems providing effective solutions to the port authorities, port operators and shipping owners, lead cross functional teams, and establish partnerships, he consistently drives business growth and delivers results. Jucilla Walters

Marketing Manager

Jucilla brings over 18 years of experience in marketing, brand development, digital strategy, and business growth across sectors including maritime, finance, media, retail, construction, and renewable energy. She holds a Master’s in Financial Management and Risk, a Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance, and CIM qualifications.

She joined NatPower Marine to help drive meaningful progress in maritime sustainability. Inspired by the company’s mission and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Jucilla focuses on delivering clear, engaging strategies that support the shift to cleaner energy.

Recognised as one of the Top 100 Women in Shipping in both 2023 and 2024, Jucilla also serves on the board of WISTA UK and is actively involved with UN Women UK, championing diversity and inclusion across the industry.

Nnenna Hemeson

Global Marketing & Growth Director

Joined NatPower with the intention of fulfilling her goal of having an impact on people and planet, through NatPower Marine she gets to be part of driving the future of shipping through clean energy. As an exceptional creative, with a STEM background, recognized for turning products and technology into lifestyle brands that influence consumer culture, drive sustainable behaviour change and deliver social impact. Nnenna extends her passion for sustainability, to volunteering with the UN Women UK, advising on addressing the urgent need to end poverty and enhance the economic empowerment of women and girls. She sheds light on topics that impact people and planet by being the someone who champions the voice of the underrepresented by using her platforms to highlight what and how Brands and Institutions (government & non-government) deliver on their sustainability commitments.

George Matzku

Commercial Director, North Europe

NatPower Marine provides a unique concept with green corridors for shore power on a global level. Joining NatPower allows me to remain in the business of going green, through their holistic approach in shore power compared to “cable management systems” only as of the last few meters. Next to my family, including several animals, I live shore power. I have been travelling all over the world in taking care on it. Apart from that I love sports, cooking and music. For 25+ years I have been involved in an initiative to optimise marketing eduction in Universities. For 5+ years I have been a mentor for young professionals.
